GÖL NOMADS is an independent travel service specializing in private trips to Turkmenistan. We cooperate with Ayratyn Hyzmat, a licensed tourism company based in Turkmenistan. Through our licensed local partner, we arrange Turkmenistan visas and provide local travel services, including guides and drivers. This cooperation allows us to offer personalized trips while working with a licensed tourism company in Turkmenistan.
Can I travel to Turkmenistan by myself, or is a guided tour mandatory?
For a tourist visa, a guided tour is mandatory. That is the visa rule, not our policy. The visa is only issued on the back of a booking with a tour operator, who arranges your travel visa, and outside Ashgabat your guide travels with you. The only independent option is a transit visa: 3 to 7 days (usually 5) to cross the country between two neighbours, no tour needed, but approval is unpredictable and the route is fixed. A private tour is the closest thing to independent travel: your dates, your route, your pace, with a guide alongside.
How can I get a visa for Turkmenistan?
To obtain a Turkmenistan visa, you first need to book a tour through a travel agency. Once your tour is confirmed, we will send you a visa application form to complete, along with the required documents. The visa process usually takes around three weeks. A prepayment is required: $200 per person for a standard visa or $250 per person for an expedited visa. After receiving the payment, we submit your documents to the relevant authorities in Turkmenistan and proceed with your visa application. Once the visa is issued, we will send you the visa details.
Are these private or group tours?
Every GÖL NOMADS itinerary is a private tour of Turkmenistan — there are no fixed group departures. You travel with your own guide and driver, starting on any date at least 21 days ahead.
